A Family Tradition 


It all started in 1974…

After years as a tournament spear fisherman, Michael J Wagner founded Seafood Specialties, a wholesale seafood processor and distributor of local fish and shellfish out of Santa Barbara, CA., “I bought fish from the local boats and sold them to local distributors who actually sell to me today!”

The first Andria’s Seafood – named after his only daughter – was opened as a small fish market on Haley St. in Santa Barbara.

Then, in 1982…

Michael, needing a port location for landing local fish, designed the Ventura Fisheries Commerce Building in the Ventura Harbor –  before the Ventura Harbor Village existed. He also signed a lease for the building next to the Fisheries Commerce Building for a Seafood Market with “some cooking.

Andria’s Seafood Restaurant and Market opened in the Ventura Harbor on May 13, 1982. Andria’s Seafood Restaurant thrived due to hard work and our dedication to supporting the local fishermen and seafood processors – quickly becoming known for the secret family recipes used in our lightly battered Fish & Chips and our handmade clam chowder.

And, in 1999…

Andria joined the family business – although Michael maintains a very active daily role in the restaurant.  

Now, 35 years later…

We are blessed to continue to receive local and national accolades and awards for our family owned, run and loved, “fresh fish market with some cooking.”

The Ventura Harbor Village is now a booming and nationally known tourist and locals’ destination, housing The Channel Islands National Park Visitors Center and offering the only transportation to visit The Channel Islands National Park via Island Packers.
